ANNAK DONATES BOOKS TO CANDON
CITY HIGH SCHOOLS
On
Sunday, March 29, 2009, more than a dozen officers & members of Annak Ti Candon, Int’l, volunteered several hours at the Annak
warehouse in Los Angeles to box books for shipment to Candon Public
High Schools. The recipients of the shipment will be: (1) Tamurong/Dr.
Gacula High School , (2) Candon National High School/Bagani, (3) St.
Josephs Institute, and (4) Sto. Tomas High School.
The shipment
consists of books covering subjects including Biology, Chemistry,
Algebra, Literature, and World History. There are also Math books
with related workbooks specifically for high school students as well
as encyclopedias and dictionaries. All these can be invaluable for
high school students needing reference materials to supplement their
learning. Annak hopes that by providing these materials, Candon
public high schools have the opportunity to improve their programs
and to be somewhat current with U.S. standards.

An initial
shipment has already been made to Balingaoan Elementary School, but Annak is already gathering books targeted to meet the
needs of other elementary schools in Candon City. According to
George Dy (Annak Vice President), “We have no problem finding all
kinds of books for Candon City public schools, but our limitation at
this point is the cost of shipment to Candon City. We looked into
shipping pallets of boxes of books, but it would cost thousands of
dollars. So if there are benefactors
out there willing to sponsor this level of shipping expenses, please
contact us as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will continue
to ship these books via Balikbayan boxes, because the need for books
is essential and is urgent for our Candon City schools. Thank you.”
All for a
better Candon City!
