ANNAK
CELEBRATES FIRST CHARITY BALL AND INDUCTION OF OFFICERS

On July 12,
2008, Annak Ti Candon International, Inc. (Annak) held its first charity
ball and induction of officers at Kyoto Grand Hotels & Gardens, Los Angeles,
California. More than 300 members and guests attended to celebrate a
milestone. Annak is the first attempt to organize an international
association of Candon immigrants. Some of the attendees included members
and officers of various local Candonian associations, including Candonians
of Canada, Candonians of Chicago and Mid-West, Candonians of Northern
California, Candonians of Southern California, and Annak ti Candon Nevada.
Members of Annak from other states were also in attendance.
The members of
the National Board and Officers of Annak ti Candon International Inc. and
Annak ti Candon-Nevada took their oath of office before Dr. Zita
Balbin-Yarro, the Guest Speaker. Inducted to office were the following
officers of Annak ti Candon International: Omar B. de Peralta, President;
George Dy, 1stVice President; Alberto Gaceta, 2nd Vice
President; Amelia S. Benitez, Secretary; Myrna Bandril, Treasurer; Rigel
Dario, PRO; Ely Clarin, Auditor; and members of the National Board: Liling
Diaz, Marilou Gaceta, Gloria Gambito and Estefanie M. Herod. Also inducted
to office were the officers of Annak ti Candon-Nevada: Alberto Gaceta,
President; Art Mendoza, Vice President; Cristina De Guia Sanedrin,
Secretary; Jose B. Abaya, Treasurer; and Roman Tamayo, PRO.

In her
remarks, Dr. Zita Balbin-Yarro, commended and applauded the formation of
Annak as an international association aimed at tapping the human resources
of Candon immigrants to help the underprivileged and less fortunate people
of Candon. She also mentioned her involvement in the Gawad Kalinga and
urged Candonians to help the homeless people of Candon.

President Omar
B. de Peralta recognized and commended the programs of various local Candonian associations like the Scholarship Program and urged them to reach
for the higher goal of establishing an international association of
Candonians. He declared the event a resounding success in terms of
attendance and raising funds for the Annak ti Candon Computerization
Program. As a result, he said Annak will be able to deliver on its promise
to help the youth, and the poor and needy people of Candon.

The highlight
of the celebration was the “ Triple Treat Concert” by Joanna Garcia, Anthony Castello, and Bernardo Bernardo. The members and guests were so
well-entertained that guests from Northern California said, “We enjoyed the
party and the show. It was obviously a success and we hope you will invite
us again”.
